Professional Sound Consultancy were employed by QPR Football Club to design, install and commission a replacement Public Address system.

The existing Millbank Public Address system was obsolete and becoming increasingly difficult to maintain. QPR recognised the need to have a fully functional, compliant and serviceable Public Address system to provide emergency announcement and general paging along with match day music and pitch side announcements.

New Public Address equipment was designed to work with the existing loudspeakers and loudspeaker cabling. Professional Sound Consultancy carried out intelligibility testing throughout the four main stands to assess the overall sound pressure levels and speech transmission index values. From the results they identified which of the existing loudspeakers needed replacing and where to add additional coverage.

Two 16 button gooseneck microphones complete with emergency message selection buttons were installed at the security desk and in the DJ's rack room plus a fully functional touch screen PC controlled microphone located in the main control room. A graphical representation of the ground was produced to enable quick and straight forward zone selection of each stand, concourse, turnstile or office area.

Noise sensing microphones were installed within the stands to automatically adjust the output of each independent amplifier.

The club's resident DJ and pitch announcers were supplied with new hardware to provide excellent quality music and clear announcements for the fans prior to each match. These included two hand held radio microphones programmed on unique frequencies and a hardwired back up microphone located pitch side.

The microphones were fed via a feedback controller to ensure no acoustiac 'howl-round' would occur when used on the pitch directly underneath the stadium loudspeakers. The DJ console was fitted out with a new mixing desk and music sources.
